Our picks

Walking Tracks

Fiordland is home to many of the great walks on offer in New Zealand. The Milford Track, Routeburn and Kepler tracks can all be accessed from Te Anau. Whether it’s a day trip or something longer, ask us about the various options to explore our beautiful national park on foot. Special memories are created on these small group tours offering a personalised experience whichever adventure you choose.

Helicopter Flights

For the ultimate in scenic flight, why not take a helicopter ride over the lake, into the mountains and beyond. Helicopters have been part of the Fiordland psyche for decades. Why not enjoy a picnic on top of the world as part of a very special day out? We can make this happen for you.

Kayaking Milford

There are a number of operators offering fabulous kayaking trips on Milford Sound. If you want to get close to nature, sea-kayaking is a must do experience whilst you are in the area.

Lake2Lake Trail

Take a walk or bike ride along the newly built Lake2Lake trail. Start at the Department of Conservation headquarters and make your way through the bird park and out towards the control gates at the entrance to the Kepler walking track. From there it’s possible to cycle or hike down the Waiau river, absorbing the bird song and appreciating glimpses of the river and ever changing scenery along the way. Mountain bikes are available at the lodge on request; alternatively there are a number of places to hire both mountain bikes or e-bikes in town.

Glow Worm Caves

Take a cruise on Lake Te Anau to the famous glow-worm caves on the Western side of the lake. Experience quietly gliding through the limestone caves and marveling at the thousands of glowworms illuminating the way before returning again to Te Anau.

Ata Whenua @ Fiordland Cinema

In addition to being a boutique cinema, the Fiordand Cinema also has regular showings of the film Ata Whenua, a 30 minute spectacular movie, filmed from a helicopter, that showcases Fiordland and its surrounds. Set to beautiful music, you will experience an unforgettable journey from the comfort of your cinema seat

Doubtful Sound

Doubtful Sound – possibly the more stunning of the two main fiords in the Fiordland National Park, a trip to Doubtful Sound offers a totally different experience compared to Milford Sound. Take a journey across picturesque Lake Manapouri and then bus over the Wilmot Pass to join your boat for a journey that will literally take your breath away. Nature guides are on hand to answer questions, point out the key landmarks and wildlife along the way which often includes dolphins, fur seals and the rare Fiordland crested penguin.

Milford Sound

Milford Road and Milford Sound – the drive into Milford should be done at leisure so that the various viewpoints can be experienced along the way. Take your time and stop at the Mirror Lakes, Gunns Camp in the Hollyford Valley and the Chasm before experiencing an iconic cruise on Milford Sound. If your time is limited, a non-stop drive will take at least two hours. You should also allow plenty of time to park and walk to the boat terminal.

Bookings and Recommendations – All you need to do is ask and we would be happy to make recommendations and bookings tailored to suit your needs.  If you want a helicopter pick up on our front lawn or a bouquet of flowers for a special occasion, we can make this happen for you.

Dining options – We have many favourite restaurants in town, depending on our mood and the occasion. From award winning Kiwi cuisine to the ultimate food truck experience, we are happy to make recommendations. We can also arrange a pizza/pasta home delivery if you don’t feel like venturing into town.
